Effective Negative Consequences is not punishment. It strengthens

The SODAS method is simple to understand. Even small children can learn how to use it. For small children, you can adjust it to fit what they understand. For example: you can use one disadvantage or one advantage instead of three for older children.

You will also notice families using this skill to make decisions as a family. This is a good way to teach and reinforce how to use the skill.
